Dr. Andrew Rosenson

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Andrew S. Rosenson, AArete’s Chief Medical Officer, is a national expert in utilization management and outcomes analysis with special expertise in clinical operations and pharmacy cost controls. He is also a pioneer and leading expert in diagnostic imaging of the coronary arteries. Dr. Rosenson has published numerous articles, lectured at national conferences, and has appeared nationally on The Oprah Winfrey show, as well as other television and radio appearances.

Originally board certified as a primary care physician by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Rosenson is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is board certified by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, the American Board of Radiology, and the Certification Board of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.  He has held faculty appointments in Preventive Medicine at the Northwestern University Medical School and in the Department of Medicine at University of Chicago Medical School.

Mari is a Director with more than 25 years of executive level leadership experience in managed care organizations and Medical Groups. Her areas of expertise include Utilization Management, Care Management, Network Contracting and Management, Compliance, and Medical Management and Utilization and Cost of Care analytics. She led teams toward highly efficient performance and quality evidence-based medicine, analytics and reporting. Mari holds an MPH from The University of Michigan, School of Public Health. She has a BS in Biological Health & Biochemistry from The Pennsylvania State University where she was a scholar-athlete. She is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. She has written published chapters and articles on wellness and self-management of chronic disease.

Diana Rosenson is a Director in AArete’s Strategy and Operations Consulting Group, based in Chicago. She specializes in healthcare data analytics and negotiation strategy and has experience with some of the nation’s leading health insurance organizations. She has consulted firms on a wide range of issues, including detailed spend analyses, market intelligence benchmarking, pharmacy optimization, network development, quality improvement, utilization management, operational waste reduction, contract and vendor management, complex vendor negotiations, and organizational assessment and process improvement. Diana also leads AArete’s IT Sourcing Solutions and Quality Solutions service lines.

Julie is a director who brings consulting experience in both private industry and state government. She has assisted organizations improve processes and controls in order to identify and resolve fraud, waste and abuse. Julie is Certified as a Fraud Examiner (CFE), a Public Accountant (CPA) as well as an Internal Auditor (CIA) and also holds a Quality Greenbelt and has a Sarbanes Oxley certification (SOX). Julie also holds a Masters in Management from Northwestern University, (Kellogg) with concentrations in Finance, Marketing and Organizational Behavior

Brian Moy is a director in AArete’s healthcare practice advising health plans, MCOs, and other healthcare service organizations in driving implementable solutions to solve complex issues and delivering measurable results that positively impact the bottom line. Brian provides expertise in data analytics and deep industry knowledge and leads AArete’s Pharmacy Solutions and Configuration Solutions service lines. He has led numerous engagements achieving results through unit cost enhancement initiatives, optimization of utilization or demand management, quality enhancement and promotion of positive outcomes, improving revenue/payment integrity, and enhancing reporting and compliance capabilities. Brian holds a Masters Degree in Communications from Northwestern University, a Bachelors Degree in Communication Studies from North Park University, Associates Degree in Communication Studies and is Certified in Conflict Transformation.

Paul is a managing director with AArete’s healthcare strategy team. He has an extensive track record of developing new and innovative approaches to complex clinical, IT, operational, and market opportunities. Paul has served in various roles as a senior executive, program manager, CTO, industry subject matter specialist, and technical architect. He has extensive experience in, and broad knowledge of, clinical and business intelligence, and regularly advises hospital systems on the enablers required for bearing risk and improving outcomes on populations.

As Director of Financial Planning and Control at AArete, James is responsible for compiling, consolidating and providing financial analysis relating to the monthly forecast, annual plan, strategic plan and client profitability. He has over 20 years’ experience in various leadership and finance roles with large international firms such as Bank of America and Deloitte Consulting. He has extensive knowledge in strategic and financial planning, performance reporting, risk reporting and analysis, and project oversight. Prior to joining AArete, his most recent role was with BMO Harris Bank where he was the Head Controller for the Retail branch network and Small Business. James is a Certified Public Accountant and Six Sigma Green Belt and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from The University of Iowa.

As Director of Marketing and Business Development at AArete, Richard is responsible for the firm’s branding, marketing, communication and business development functions.Prior to AArete, he held a number of high-level marketing and leadership positions at A.T. Kearney, Man Investments, Archipelago Exchange and Chase Global Asset Management, where he managed strategic marketing and business development initiatives, integrated communications strategies and corporate brand awareness. Richard completed the Executive’s Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management focusing in the areas of Marketing, Strategy and International Business. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/International Relations from The University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master of Arts with a concentration in Liberal Studies, International Economics and Political Economy from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

Tyler provides AArete with extensive experience leading multi-year sourcing initiatives within Higher Education, Retail, Consumer Products, Transportation, and Energy achieving cost savings of over $100M. He has over 10 years of sourcing experience and has developed detailed cost models that have been integral in generating substantial cost savings as well as identifying inefficiencies and areas where process improvements can be implemented. Tyler has completed projects in a multitude of sourcing categories including temporary labor, most facilities (material and services) areas, IT hardware and software, scientific supplies, supply chain/transportation, and human resource benefits. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree from University of California, Berkeley.

As Director of IT for AArete, Nathan Andersen is the firms HIPAA Security Officer and is responsible for IT infrastructure, operations, and project management. Nathan's 10 years of IT experience include delivering large-scale system integrations, custom reporting and BI solutions, business process redesign, and a wide array of security programs, both as a consultant and as a member of growth-oriented internal teams. He earned a Masters of Information Systems from the Morris Graduate School of Management.

As AArete’s Director of Corporate Development Gary ensures that the AArete ship stays on course through strategy and vision. With over 22 years of pharmaceutical, bio-pharmaceutical and medical device experience with divisions of Johnson & Johnson, Gilead Sciences and his own company, DPN Solutions. He has worked in and led Sales, Sales Management, Managed Care, Marketing, Operations, and Business and Commercial Development teams within North America – he leverages this expertise daily. Gary has managed and helped grow Janssen Pharmaceutical and Gilead Sciences into global organizations with multiple sales divisions. During his career he has developed an expertise in launch preparedness leading to the successful launch of 16 products. Gary holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and Marketing from Fordham University.

Maria is a Managing Director in AArete’s Healthcare Fraud, Waste and Abuse (FWA) practice who works closely with leading insurance payers to design and implement comprehensive FWA solutions that are customized to align with their unique business requirements and result in the early detection and prevention of FWA in healthcare claims. Maria has more than twelve years of business consulting experience. Prior to joining AArete, Maria began her career at Arthur Andersen where she provided audit and consulting services to privately-held companies in a variety of industries, including the transportation, professional services and non-profit sectors. Maria couples her broad business background with her expertise in healthcare FWA to create innovative solutions that are tailored to meet the challenges currently facing healthcare payers. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Iowa and is a Certified Public Accountant.

He has nearly 10 years of consulting experience across a variety of industries including extensive experience with Healthcare payers. Prior to joining AArete, Paul began his career at Huron Consulting Group where he worked on corporate disputes and fraud investigations. Mike possesses expert-level knowledge of research methodologies related to study designs and quantifiable policy/program evaluation which makes him an integral member of the team. Tina specializes in developing and implementing change initiatives and strategic cost management to drive profitability and EBITDA improvements. Tina is adept at developing and leading procurement operations for startup, private equity, joint venture, or underperforming entities. She holds a Masters of International Business Administration from University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science Finance from University of Indiana. Tina is APMG International Prince2 Project Management Certification.

Jackie Ferguson is a Managing Director in AArete’s Strategy & Operations practice and is based out of AArete’s Chicago office. She has consulted across a wide range of industries including healthcare payers, financial institutions, retailers, and higher education. Her focus in the healthcare space is strategic advisory work, specifically with our Medicaid and Medicare clients. Jackie specializes in providing non-labor cost reduction solutions by conducting detailed spend analyses, market intelligence benchmarking, organizational assessments, developing process improvement plans as well as providing support in complex incumbent vendor negotiations. Prior to joining AArete, Jackie worked in Commercial Banking and Investment Banking spaces. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College.

Kevin Byrnes specializes in data analytics and mining, business process improvement, strategic sourcing solutions and leading cost savings initiatives. His broad range of healthcare experience, including both the Provider and Payer side makes him an integral member of AArete’s analytics team. Kevin has worked with large Managed Care organizations and Hospitals to deliver cost savings results and operational and strategic business insight. Kevin is based out of AArete’s Seattle office. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

As part of AArete’s human resource and recruiting team, Elyssa’s responsibilities include recruiting, retention, training, development, employee benefits and human resources. Since joining AArete in 2013, she has assisted in growing and developing the AArete team.

Elyssa’s background includes eight years of recruiting experience in the corporate and non-for-profit sectors. Most recently from The Boston Consulting Group where she managed campus recruiting activities for Kellogg School of Management, executed on-campus marketing, interviews and events to identify the top 5% of the class.

John Marchisin

John Marchisin is a Managing Director with more than 25 years of healthcare provider experience. Based in New York, John provides profit improvement services to a range of healthcare providers, including large academic medical centers, integrated delivery systems, physician practices and specialty hospitals. His work includes non-labor cost reduction, revenue cycle improvements, process improvements and technology implementation services. John has a particular focus on revenue enhancement, patient access and throughput, supply chain management, and population health. A thought leader in technology, John works with clinicians and executives around the country to help prioritize and design performance improvement programs yielding financial, operational, and patient satisfaction benefits. John is a known innovator and driver of change that produces results by communicating to all levels of the organization.

Jim has extensive global operations management experience, and is a recognized leader in achieving successful change management in the legal services industry and global banking/capital markets. Prior to joining AArete in 2009, Jim was, for 16 years, the Chief Operating Officer of White & Case L.L.P. a global law firm operating in 30 countries with annual revenues in excess of $1.3 billion. From 2005 through 2008, Jim was also Chairman of the Executive Committee (Chief Executive Officer) of White & Case's London Office.

Prior to joining White & Case, Jim was Senior Vice President of Chemical Bank, a predecessor bank to J.P. Morgan Chase, where his global responsibilities included financial and management accounting, income tax compliance and planning, and strategic financial planning. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Business Administration from Loyola University Maryland. Jim also earned a Post-Master of Business Administration Certificate in International Finance from New York University.

Jim is a Certified Public Accountant. He has previously served on FASB task forces, and as a leader of industry groups in legal services and banking/capital markets in the United States and England. He is a member of the Loyola University Maryland Board of Trustees, where he has held several key committee Chairmanship roles.

Jim previously served on the Board of Advisors to the Loyola University Maryland's Sellinger School of Business. He is a member of the Board of the Waterford Institute, Salt Lake City, Utah. Jim is a member of the Financial Executives Institute and CEO Trust.
