Don Maag – Director

Don Maag is a Director at AArete, bringing more than 13 years of experience across the healthcare industry. Since joining AArete in 2016, Don has partnered with a broad range of client – from community-based health plans to large, national, multi-line payers – helping them navigate complex operational and financial challenges.

Don has deep expertise in driving strategic profitability and performance improvement, with a focus on medical management, policy, network & provider contracting, and payment integrity. He has led complex, enterprise-scale efforts that balance analytical rigor with operational feasibility, helping health plans address some of their most challenging cost, quality, and performance issues. In addition to his client work, Don is a senior leader within AArete’s Medical Management solution group, helping shape the firm’s approach and offerings in this area.

In addition to core payer operations, Don has supported digital and technology-enabled initiatives designed to improve member outcomes and strengthen end-to-end health plan operations. His work consistently centers on translating data into actionable insights that drive meaningful, sustainable change.

Don is a proud graduate of Indiana University and makes his home in Chicago.
